- Ductless cleaning
Inside a ductless head: four layers, and what builds up on each.
Wall-mounted ductless units are quiet and efficient, and they hide their dirt well. In damp, mild bay air the inside can collect dust, slime and mould long before anything looks wrong from the room. Here is what's in there.
Layer by layer
What a deep clean reaches.
- Front panel & filtersDust and lint. The part you can rinse yourself — and should, regularly. We clean and check the louvres and filters.
- CoilA film of dust and grime that chokes airflow and cuts cooling and heating.Cleaned with a coil cleaner and rinsed, electronics covered.
- Blower wheelWhere slime and dark mould spots often collect in damp climates — and get blown into the room.Cleaned in place with a protective cover bag underneath.
- Drain pan & lineStanding water and slime that can overflow down the wall.Flushed, cleared and tested.
A simplified drawing; heads differ by make and model. A deep clean doesn't replace maintenance of the outdoor unit — we check that on the same visit.
Signs it's time
You'll usually notice one of these first.
A musty smell
Especially in the first minutes after the unit starts.
Dark specks on the louvres
Visible at the outlet where the air comes out.
Weaker airflow or drips
A dirty coil or a blocked drain shows up as either.
Homes
Condos and townhomes
Bedrooms and living rooms where the head runs most of the year.
Businesses
Offices, clinics, studios
Heads and cassettes cleaned before opening or after close.
Between visits
Three things you can do.
- Rinse the filters when they look grey, and let them dry fully
- Leave the louvres alone — forcing them can damage the motor
- Call us if it smells, drips or blows weakly
